2006 NAIA NATIONAL TOURNAMENT
1. The National Tournament will be a seeded tournament. The host cannot receive higher than a three seed.
2. Pairings may be adjusted after Game 12 to match teams in the losers’ bracket who have not previously met. After Game 15, pairings for the four remaining teams will be determined by the Games Committee. Two teams from the losers’ bracket will play and the team from the winners’ bracket will be matched against a team from the losers’ bracket whom they have not played previously in the tournament. These two games will be played on Wednesday June 1.
3. If the team from the winners loses on Wednesday, there will be three teams remaining with a loss. The following order of criteria will be used to determine a bye for one of the three remaining teams.
a. If the team that was in the winner’s bracket last (Team A) has not received a bye in the tournament, Team A will receive the bye and Team B and Team C (loser’s bracket teams) will play each other.
b. If Team A and Team B have previously received byes, then Team C will receive the bye; and Team A will play Team B.
c. If Team A and Team C have previously received byes, then Team B will receive the bye; and Team A will play Team C.
d. If all three teams have received /not received a bye, then Team A will receive the bye.
4. If the team from the winners’ bracket wins on Wednesday, there will be two teams remaining and the championship game will be played on Thursday, June 2.
5. A second championship game, if needed, will be played Friday, June 3.
6. If needed, it may be necessary for a team to play two games in one day in order to complete the tournament.
