NAIA 2006 World Series News--> Team and School schedule

What if every kid read the same book?
2006 book: Bobby Baseball
by Robert Kimmel Smith

Consistent with Idaho Governor Dirk Kempthorne's emphasis on reading, the NAIA's emphasis on community outreach at National Championship Events, and the NAIA World Series emphasis to enrich the community and promote education, Lewis-Clark State College has proposed a program to reach this goal.
The ten participating teams of the Avista NAIA World Series will visit at least one predetermined area elementary school. The 300 baseball players will visit with predetermined students, read, and autograph the book, and leave it with the student. The schools' libraries are presented with autographed copes of the book. Six area public schools' libraries received five copies per library for community use. The book chosen for this year's World Series is,
Bobby Baseball, by Robert Kimmel Smith.

The basis of the program is to promote reading through the use of role models. The Lewiston School District, The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, and Lewis-Clark State approved this year's selected book

The 2006 Avista World Series Reading Program would like to thank the following sponsors for their generous financial support: Lewiston Wal-Mart, the Lewis-Clark State College Bookstore, and the Lewiston Tribune.
